Architects and Designers, Morrow & Lorraine specified Atmosphere to produce this intricate feature reception desk to sit in the entrance of a Grade II listed building in the St. James’s Conservation Area in the City of Westminster. The desk design presented a number of design and production challenges for Atmosphere to overcome in order to achieve the desired aesthetic whilst retaining a functionality that was fit for purpose.
Achieving a 3D fretwork effect with laser cut precision, as well as successfully marrying the interface of the many different materials, steel, brass, stainless, lino and bulletin board made for a number of production challenges, but a visually stunning outcome. The brass trim subtely picks up on the various brass finishes around the entrance and adds to the opulent look.
Behind the desk façade, the internals are no less impressive. A Lino desktop and Forbo bulletin board with built-in storage for heaters and a sliding tray for the printer. The desk also incorporates all the room setting and entry controls.
7-10 Waterloo Place is undoubtedly an impressive building from the outside. On stepping inside, the interior seamlessly extends that sense of grandeur, successfully incorporating contemporary finishes and accessories into a classical setting.
